Hi

Memory management has changed in 7.40. Check the here under note and adjust em/proc_max_size_MB & abap/heap_area_total.

What are the memory usage values in ST02, have you tried running STAD (or process detail in SM50) to find how the memory is used in the process ?

2019744 - How to limit overall swap space consumption of the ABAP Server in NW 7.40

To limit PROC memory consumption, use the profile parameter em/proc_max_size_MB.  The value of this parameter is the maximum size of the PROC/Heap memory available for all work processes of an application server instance. The default value of this parameter is 0 (= unlimited). A rough recommendation is to set the value to 100 MB multiplied with the maximum number of work processes configured on the server. Read the parameter documentation for further information.

In addition, the parameter abap/heap_area_total (limitiation for the PRIV mode heap memory) needs to be taken into account for avoiding critical swap space shortage. Both parameter values together form the limit for the overall system heap memory that can be allocated by the application server instance.
